Update on a classic game…

16 05 2007

For those of you out there that were fortunate enough to play Team Fortress and enjoy squad-based shooter games, then you probably have already heard of or seen info on Team Fortress 2. If you haven’t, welcome back from underneath that rock. It’s being developed by Valve Software, the same folks that brought us the Half-Life series. We don’t yet know exactly when Team Fortress 2 will be released, but we do know that it will come with Half-Life 2: Episode 2, which should be coming sometime over the summer…hopefully. So if you have Half-Life 2 already, you can pickup the expansion Episode 2 when it comes out and enjoy the updated Team Fortress.

It’s a first-person shooter that allows you to choose from several different classes of players, ie: sniper, soldier, demolitions, spy, heavy weapons, medic, etc. and pits two teams against each other online. The particular aspect that caught my eye on this title is the art style, which is fantastic in my opinion. It’s a mix between The Incredibles (very funny film by Disney/Pixar) and Evil Genius (a PC game published by Elixir Studios). The style adds a level of whimsy and lightheartedness that you don’t find too often in games. It obviously doesn’t take itself too seriously but that won’t detract from the fun, if anything, it should add to it, at least that’s what I’m guessing Valve is shooting for.

We’ll see when the game finally comes out. For now…meet this guy…
